L.A.M.P. Mentor Program

WHO WE ARE

In 1998, the Gamma Zeta Boule established the Gamma Zeta Boule Foundation as the social action arm of the Pasadena, CA member boule of Sigma Pi Phi, the oldest Black Greek letter organization. In 2006, the Foundation launched the L.A.M.P. Mentor Program to address the need for leadership development of African American high school male students and address the academic and social challenges that these students were facing.

Since the inception of the L.A.M.P. Mentor Program, approximately 200 young African American men have enrolled. The Program provides leadership development and mentoring through a series of monthly workshop on soft, success and leadership skills. These skills include financial literacy, writing a business communication, interviewing, time management, resume writing, critical thinking, public speaking, etiquette, health and wellness, and navigating the college application and financial aid experience, to name a few. The Program also includes a Fall Retreat for all Mentees and Mentors where the emphasis is leadership development, skills acquisition and Brotherhood building. Rising seniors have the opportunity to participate in the Capstone Experience Excursion in June. CEE is a week-long trip to Washington, DC that includes college memorial and museum visits, including the National Museum of African American History & Culture, a visit to the White House, dinners with successful Black men from the Washington, DC area and fun.

WHAT OUR ALUMNI SAY

Peyton Faulkner L.A.M.P. Class of 2016 | University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business 2020

“The L.A.M.P. Program was very valuable because it exposed me to a wide array of career options that I had never previously considered. The program put us in contact with professionals in these fields who were always willing to answer questions and provide guidance. Furthermore, it was a great opportunity to meet other ambitious young men from the area who will be the leaders of tomorrow.”

Corey O’Rane Ealy L.A.M.P. Class 2018 | Santa Clara University 2022 | Sales & Marketing Coordinator, Athletes First Partners, New York City

“L.A.M.P. has both taught and prepared me for the challenges that would arise in my transition to college and shortly thereafter to the work force. By soaking up advice from the mentors and alumni I was able to prepare myself for college and subsequently the challenges that each new chapter of life would bring. Within the program itself, I leaned on the workshops of time management, leadership, public speaking, and mock interviews to better equip myself in college and post college to eventually begin my current career.”

Tyler Street L.A.M.P. Class 2020 | Marist College 2024, Class President Senior Year & Junior Year | President, Marist College Greystone Equity Fund

“L.A.M.P. laid the foundation of skill sets and tools that I needed to take on the world. Much of the success that I’ve been able to achieve since graduating high school is in large part due to being a part of L.A.M.P. They taught me how to become a Professional, a Leader, a man and so much more. This shaped me to become a confident multifaceted individual ready to navigate the complexities of life and poised me for success.”
