The 8th Annual Career STEAMposium was held on March 23, 2024 at Pasadena City College where over 300 persons participated. Among the participants were L.A.M.P. Mentees who are High School students (freshmen to seniors) and who are in the process of figuring out what careers they might pursue in the future.
Among the amazing speakers of the day (Ramsey Jay Jr., Dr. Soroya Coley and others) was Ms. Jameeka Green-Aaron who inspired us all as she described her career journey from a young curious girl who took apart her parents vacuum cleaner to see how it worked, to the scientist who helped to put satellites in orbit and now is a cybersecurity expert who launched technologies to protect assets that we all use today.
Through other workshop sessions throughout the day and culminating with Captain Willie Daniels’ talk about his journey to became an Airline Pilot for over 40 years, the L.A.M.P. Mentees experiences the equivalent of a smorgasbord of Career Opportunity possibilities where through STEAM (Science – Technology – Engineering – Arts – Mathematics) a career awaits.
